God has His great purposes, but they have been clearly challenged. Some cultures are more supportive of God's truths and the family than others, but no culture has eluded the war on the family. Families everywhere have been captured by the god of this world. Fortunately, God reveals enough in the scriptures for us to see how the enemy works. By better understanding the attack on the family, we can better protect our own.
ReplyDelete1Co 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
ReplyDeleteI believe the above scripture applys to all aspects of our lives. From our home, work, to our with God, order and organization provides for a better environment. When we are organized, we are more capable of focusing on current goals rather than just trying to cope with the reality of life.
Why did God order Moses to count the Israelites? It was so they could stay organized. I can only imagine moving 603,550 people at the same time, not to count feeding them. Organization was the only way they could survive in their quest for the land of Israel.
God also holds us accountable for the blessings or talents he has given us. He will not prosper a person who does not serve him wisely
Mona Davis
I think that God wants us to be organized in all areas of our lives. From the beginning when He created earth and all living things, He did it in an organized manner. Take a look at Creation; it could not be done in any other manner. Plant life could not exist without light and water. Man could not exist without plant life. Just as important as Creation is, He wants our lives to be organized. When our lives are organized then we can think clearly and keep our eyes on the important things. This holds true not only in our personal lives but also with work. We need to keep our files organized so that we can perform and be a good witness for Him. If we stay organized we are following His lead.
ReplyDeleteCandi Seering
I think that he is telling us that we will find comfort and ease when living in an organized manner. If we can live as he taught, we will be comforted, we will find ease and those around us will fall into order.
ReplyDeleteI believe while representing good living, it is up to us to demonstrate and live by His expectation of us. In doing so, God is pleased with clenaliness and organization. While creating files and cluttering our work space, keeping only those thing we need to use and organizing those items in a way that supports it's use represents our ability to be confident in our work and personal needs.
ReplyDeleteI relate Gods word and managing a large number of files to the Bible. The bible is a file of Gods word a teaching and guiding file of how we should live our live. Sometimes we learn and teach others with our files. We proof our files, make correction, and sometimes train others. Gods word is a large file that we need to retain forever helping others learn it’s a barrier to false prophets. 16 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that a man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We have files to help us document our daily work. God’s word (documented) helps get us through every day. Carl Hronek ADM-316-A
ReplyDeleteI believe that God has a purpose for everyone and everything that has ever been created. In doing this he created a plan for all living things. He gives us the basic knowledge of how to live a peaceful, God loving life in the scriptures of the Bible. In doing this he expects us to be organized and follow the steps laid out for us in the Bible. He loves all of us and wants the best for us, but we should also all obey his laws. Everything in life has consequences. God wants us to understand this and lead a humble life. That is why being organized in all of your affairs is better because it gives alot less of a chance for chaos and going off the chosen path to follow.

I would relate the standards to folders. They have different names and are different from other folders. I would compare the banners to file names. This way we know what (or who) is were. I can look at the folders on my computer and know were to find certain files. It is the same as looking at the Isrealites camp and knowing where to find certain people.
ReplyDeleteJonathan Bronson ADM316
The banners he speaks of can be used as file names in our computers. We need to put a name on everything so it is well organized and easy to find. Just as each clan was given a banner to identify themselves making them easy to find as well.
ReplyDeleteHeather Smead
We can organize our life by grouping like items together. In our file system we group like items. We create a file naming system that will work for us. In our personal life we talk to people that have similar interst to ours.
ReplyDeletePaul Conley
The LORD knows that the key to successfully managing large numbers of files is organization. The LORD gave those orders to Moses and Aaron because he wanted them and their families to remain organized throughout their lives. Organization is not only the key to managing files, but the main element in managing time and money. Matt Hunter ADM316
ReplyDeleteOrganization is key to understanding. I belive that the better understanding people are of something the better performance can be. With the devotion order was needed. When constructing folders order is needed. It's important to have organzation for things to make sense.
ReplyDeleteJosh McMahan ADM-316
Everything has it's place. With God there is order and not chaos. Therefore as we become more like Him, there should be leass chaos in our life and more order. This line of thinking would also be appropriate when dealing with our files on the computer, either at home or at work.
ReplyDelete~ Kristi ADM-316
We can relate God's word to managing a large amount of files by being organized. Also the Bible says, Habakkuk 2: Then the Lord replied: "Write the revelation and make it plan on tablets so that a herald may run with it." I love this scripture and it relates to using folders and keeping our important these in order.
ReplyDeleteI feel God's word is all about organization. He teaches us organization throughout the Bible and without it life would be totally chaotic. Living up to God's standards and obeying the Ten Commandments can put organization into our lives. The more organized we can become it can help lower the stress level in our lives. For instance, if you save files to your computer and do not organize them in manner that you can find them then it can become frustrating when you need that file and it takes longer than expected to locate.
ReplyDeleteI think that it all comes down to organization. God gives us tools to help us be organized. There are many things, such as a computer, roladex, phone book, dictionary, post it notes, even plain ordinary paper. A person had to have patience to be organized, as well. I pray to God all the time for patience. Patience with my children, work, and any issue that needs it. I used to struggle really bad with being organized, but through a little patience, work, and prayer it has come around in a big way.
ReplyDeleteI think that the main point of this devotion was to emphasize order. Organization in our everyday lives promotes health and stability. Organizing files is no different than organizing a large group of people; our schedules and a family outing. Each thing requires its particular set of planning. God is instructing us to organize our lives and not live in total chaos and dissaray. Just as he instructed Moses and Aaron to organize the Israelites, he is instructing us to organize our personal, career, educational and church lives.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the scripture in Numbers we can see that God is a Being who loves order. It was crucial that Moses and Aaron followed through with the plan of organizing the thousands of Israelites. They were not only to organize the people but they were to give each group a title according to their family. We can carry this concept to our computers. What better way is there to keep track of information than by organizing all of it in folders that are easy to access and have commonalities to them? This prevents a person from working with a system that does not provide a sense of order and efficiency. The same holds true with other areas of our lives.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord had Moses and Aaron organize the Israelites’ in a specific area and under their family banners. This way if someone entered and was looking for a specific family they knew exactly where to find that family at. If we organize our files in the same methodical manner that the Lord used, we will have a logical system that we can access the information we are seeking in a relatively short amount of time without having to dig to find it.
ReplyDeleteJami Forster
When God sent the Israelites into the wilderness he knew they needed to be organized to be successful. He gave Moses the message of how to organize the camp by banners of their family. This was a way communication and protection could be easily supported with such a large group. This is the same when we have large numbers of files that need to be accessed. By being organized we can reach our information faster and more efficiently.
ReplyDelete-Lorrie Peterson
God did everything in order. He had a well thought plan from creating the world and creating humans and determining responsibilities. We must learn to plan and organize everything we do to be able to manage our time and our lives so that all we do is pleasing unto God then our families then ourselves. Everything we do must be decent and in order.
ReplyDeleteby Shalena Konduah, I know that God embraces good technology and doesn't have a problem with us improving our quality of life. technology is a sign of growth and with growth comes change and hopefull for the better.
ReplyDeleteGod wants everybody to stay close to their families. When you have a large number of files you should for a tree and the files form branches. Start with a major file name and the branches will be your smaller files. Everything should stay close to home.
ReplyDeleteIn this weeks workshop four devotion, Numbers 2:1-2, 34, God commanded Moses and Aaron to manage the Israelite families in order around a central meeting tent. God teaches us order within this scripture in regards to organizing and managing large quantities or numbers. Managing technological files can be done in the same way. Having a central or main folder and then allowing the associated files to branch off from them. This allows for organization and ease of finding files.
ReplyDeleteThe Workshop Four devotion shows that we can relate God’s Word to managing large numbers of files much in the way he instructed Moses and Aaron. By commanding that they set out in families, the Lord was paving the way for each group to stay together for a purpose. In this organized fashion, each clan would grow and stay together. We can use God’s Word as an example when we manage our files because our goal is to keep them together while we focus on improving. by Carmen Gutierrez ADM316
ReplyDeleteIn our devotion this week, God talks about sticking together and staying together, going through lives challenges as a family. No matter what we will face in our lives, we must always remember our family and how God wants us to be faithful to him as well as our loved ones. Files in our lives are no different than files in our computer. We need to find the main files and always use them as we need guidance and knowledge to know what to put in those files, do we keep? or delete? We should never turn our backs on our family's as I know my life would be very sad without my family, they have been there for me through thick and thin, thank you Lord!
ReplyDeleteCrissy ADM 316
Just like God had to find a way to keep order amongest the vast number of families that made up the Israelites, we as individuals have just as much important information that must be kept in good order. God teaches us the importance of organizational structure, and how easy things can be managed once one is in place. The Israelites then knew how they were to proceed when they moved from one place to another. God is showing His people that discipline and order are needed to avoid chaos and turmoil, and those are the key ingredients to disobedience. God wishes us to follow in His path and through order and organization we can find peace and a deeper faith in Him.
ReplyDeleteThis week has truly shown me how important it truly is to stay organized. I have been feeling so ill lately, and with my kidney stone, it has made me feel like I can’t seem to get enough rest since I have been so sick during the evenings. When I don’t get enough sleep, then I don’t feel well and I have to rest longer than I planned. When I have to rest more, then I don’t have as much time to get everything done. I just need to get ahead of myself as soon as I start feeling better. I guess everyone sometimes feels this way, especially during this time of year. I think God’s word tells us that we need to manage our families, where could be compared to large files. The files need to be in order. I truly believe that God doesn’t want us to feel confused, frustrated, or disorganized. All of these things can come from being having files and content jumbled everywhere. When you have everything organized, then you will know exactly where to find something when you need it, which will keep you less stressed. I believe God wants us to be happy, stress-free, and organized. This week, I am going to try to pray and concentrate about organization in my life. Perhaps God will show me where areas where I can improve in organization techniques in my life.
ReplyDeleteHow can we relate God’s Word to managing large numbers of files?
ReplyDeleteWe are to care about even the smallest of details, God knows and cares about his work (creation) to the point that he has numbered the hairs on each of our heads and cares for each of the birds.
Matthew 10:28-31 8 "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 "Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 "So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
We are also not supposed to repeat information we see or work with on the job to others who do not need to know that information to do theirs.
Proverbs 17:9 He who conceals a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends.
There seems to be alot of referrences in the Bible and in religious teaching of "having things in order" for the most part this is a referrence to having our lives and heart in order with God. However we all know how scattered we feel when our house is not in order or we become disorganized at work. God keeps all of us and all our lives in order if we will allow Him to. When we can stay in line with His word we can begin to get our lives in order and focus on His will.
ReplyDeleteThe Israelites had to be organized since there were so many of them with Moses at that time. Having them set up by clan and family was the most efficient way to do this. Moses and the people working under him had to have a way to keep order and to find the people when they were needed.
ReplyDeleteMoses trusted in God to help him be a leader. It is the same way with us today. We must make the effort to be organized so that we can succeed in our callings. We can ask God for help with this. We can learn from the heroes of the Bible in how to organize ourselves and how to conduct our lives.
I doubt I will ever be responsible for as many people as Moses was, but the principles are still the same!
When God created man one of the first tasks he set for man was to name all the animals and plants in the garden. God initially created man because he wanted companionship, but He also wanted man to bring organization to His creation. Man was to be a steward.
ReplyDeleteWhen we look at file organization, we need to keep in mind that God wants organization and cleanliness in all that we do and create. Also God wants all of His creatures, humans included, to be happy with their lives here on earth. When we are disorganized, i.e. cannot find the file that we want when we need it, we increase our stress and discomfort.
-Jeremy Peacock- ADM316
Managing large numbers of files can be similar to managing your family and your clan, God is saying. Large numbers of files should be placed in the proper location as instructed, (like folders on a computer), and should be properly labeled so that all know who/what is within the folders, (or clans). Your name is relevant to what is within the folder or camp, and you stand strong when representing that name.
ReplyDelete-Adam Burg
We can mamange our files according to God's plan by placing like files together. As He asked for each clan be put in tents with their surname as a banner to label it, we put files together under file names that are similar to keep them organized. He wanted us to keep things organized to ensure order and reason in what we do.
ReplyDeletePam Dillow
I'm not sure how to answer this question. How do I use God's word to organize computer files? I'm going to take a stabe at this. I'm sure somewhere in the Bible, it speaks of being orderly, maybe makeing our lives orderly to avoid chaos, keeping things orderly so you can be ready. Or maybe we can use God's word to keep our house orderly so our daily lives run smoothly...that's it! We are to keep things orderly to keep our lives running smoothly - keeping the chaos out.
ReplyDeleteRachel Zoellner
I believe that when God sent out the Israelites he did so with the understanding that they needed order and organization. Without these 2 components, it would be very difficult for them to be successful. This is very similar to managing large numbers of files. Without being organized and maintaining order in the way you hold and manage your files, you will be unsuccessful in your attempts to stay organized and find what you need when you need it.
ReplyDeleteGod is clearly a God of order. For some reason, Numbers 2 reveals to us that identification was important to God as He instructed the people how to lay out their camp and even to label the family units clearly with standards.
ReplyDeleteWhen we organize our files by carefully planning our filing structure and then clearly labeling the directories and subdirectories, we are doing the important work of organizing our data to maximize its usage and preparing the foundational system for managing large numbers of files. Good organization is good stewardship of our resources. Without it, we may lose valuable things and waste precious time.
Like managing large numbers or files all must be considered. Like God says we are all created equal but different. So therefore take the large amount and organize them by labeling and by priority. All of the files should be read thouroghly then and given equal amount of time. Just because the amount is large doesn't mean it is less important. Organization is key to any mass amount of itmes. Kristi Lee
ReplyDeleteNumbers 2:1-2, 34 Constructing Order. God is so amazing. He is Creator, Healer, Savior, the Great I Am and apparently a Organizer too! He organized the Israelites separating them by family and setting their flag or Banner in front so they could be identified. We can do the same by taking the mass amount of files, separating them into categories and giving each one a file name with sub-directories if needed. This makes them easily accessible. Amen to that!
ReplyDeleteHaving been in the US Marine Corps I can relate to the order of encampment given to Mosses. Order is a good thing. It limits surprises and gives consistency to our lives. When we know that our life is in order we can better prioritize the thing in a logical and meaningful way. The time that is saved because of order in our lives gives us more time to focus on our relationship with God.
ReplyDeleteI originally posted this in the wrong section. So, I am re-posting it here. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe way God described how the Israelites were to camp is very similar to the way in which we organize our information when managing files. First they are all Israelites which could be construed as the root directory, then they are all grouped by their tribe. After that, each man posts his standard within the tribe and finally all of his family (or information and data in our case) is stored within that folder.
God’s instructions for ordering the tribes is a great example of folder layout. Simply think of each Israelite as a song and the tribe the band. Of course the entire group is thought of as the “my music” folder. If all the songs or people were grouped in one folder, how difficult would it be to find a single song or person? Instead grouping by bands or tribes divides the numbers allowing for easy searching. The large number of files we save need to be structured and organized. In a similar way the people of Israel are vast in number and are kept organized through structure.
ReplyDeleteJosh Stevens
It is one thing to study and learn something, but it is another to be able to locate that knowledge and use it to defend oneself.
ReplyDeleteEphesians 6:12-18 describes this perfectly. Another example would be when Jesus quoted scripture to rebuke the devil after fasting for 40 days and 40 nights in the desert.
Knowing the Bible is one thing, but being able to recall or locate It's teachings will allow us to defend ourselves when evil attacks. So, creating a system that helps us locate specific verses of scripture is crucial to fighting the good fight.
Thanks,
BD
I think the devotion lets us know that no matter how big we think the problem is if we are able to organize, and break down the information into smaller more organized pieces, it will be less overwhelming and much easier to find when we need to retrieve it.
ReplyDeleteStacey Lewis
Nasiya Walker (ADM 316)As a group the Israelites each with their clan and family grouped together to follow god’s word. We can find organization within our files by grouping our files together to make sense of what needs to be accomplished which is organization. Just as god’s word should be accomplished and should be easy to find; it can be wise to sort out our files in our computer to make it easier to find what we need in the computer.
ReplyDeleteIn the scipture we can see that the Lord used organization and method when arranging the camp. There was a large number of people to organize, but he had a sense of order in his planning so that everything remained organized. We can use this same mentality when dealing with a large number of files. In order for everything to be easily accessible and organized we must make sure to create an order that is followed. It can be easy to get overwhelmed by large amounts of dara or people, but God's Word shows us that everything can managed more easily with careful planning and execution.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Akam ADM 316
Everything in life requires order or it ends in chaos. I've often been criticized for the organization of my files at the office and my pantry and linen closet at home. I arrange these things in this fashion not because of a disorder, but rather, as a way of being efficient and effective as a single parent. Organization saves time and money. It saves time in that I don't have to waste time looking for things at work, or before I go to the grocery to see what I need. It saves money because my employer isn't paying me to wander around looking for something, and at home because I don't purchase things that I already have. I think this scripture reference teaches us about organization and how it is beneficial to the order of society and our own sanity.
ReplyDeleteI think this means that if we have our lives organized and in order, our lives will be easier and more manageable. I think this relates to having large number of files organized, we can have order and ease. Having disorder in life and in files are a waste of valuable time. Try to make everything in life as simle as possible, and life becomes easier.
ReplyDeleteWilliam Hartzler
I think this means that managing large numbers of files is comparable to managing your life and a large number of people as Moses and Aaron did. I believe that God wants our life to be organized. If our life is organized, we will have peace.
ReplyDeleteDawn Watkins
God’s Word commands us to keep order. Everything has been done with order…the weeks, months and years have all been organized by God. The day is organized into day and night. So we should also live our lives with order. “But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.’(1Cor 14:40 NIV) Even in death the Lord wants us to have order “ In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” (2Kings 20:1 NIV)
ReplyDeleteThere are many “Large numbers of files” in our life and per God’s word we must manage all of life’s “files” with order.
~Diane Weirich
We need to always group files based on the information that is being provided in it, by subject and then we need to make sure that we group the files that are related to subject in a subfolder so that we will be able to easily find the files. We need to group by subject and then by everything that is related to the subject. Kimberly Durham
ReplyDeleteI think that to be "organized" is relative to what one thinks the meaning is. I believe that God would like me to keep all of my finances in order and all of the relationships that I have, but that he really would not care at all how I organize my files. I guess the word organize strikes a chord with me. What is organized? I personally know where everything I need is, but I don't follow a structure like the book talks about. I would personally rather just run a quick search by title and lump it all together, but not on my desktop. Order is in the eye of the beholder, and God cares about my relationships and love, so in that area, I'm perfectly organized to his specs.
ReplyDeleteWhen reading in the Bible, all is organized. There are books and chapters and versus, all numbered and orderly. Even the 10 commandments were in order and numbered. I believe this to be an example of how we should take care of our business and our lives, including how we manage our work down to our computer files.
ReplyDeleteTesting...
ReplyDeleteI relate God's word to managing large numbers of files in the way he leads us in our everyday lives. I see people as files and God organizes the files. He puts us in places and situations where he wants us. After all, who is a bigger manager than God? He can put us where he wants to and lead us in directions he wants to, much like files on a computer. I guess we are all files in God's big computer. I also agree with the last post in that the bible is arranged in numbers and organized like files as well.
ReplyDeleteEric Trosky
ReplyDeleteJust as God told Moses we must use the philosophy of using banners for specific families in our use of cataloging large numbers of files. We can develop a handful of folders that have specific subject matter titles that will help us develop subfolders for each file in order to better organize our files. This will help us with the process of locating a specific file at a later date.
When I read this devotion and think of ways to relate God's Word to managing large numbers of files, I think of it as managing others in our lives and in the workplace. A Father has to manage his wife, his children, his faith with God, his work, his free time, etc. There are many things in life that we all must manage. We need to make sure that we are managing the right things and managing them in a way that God would do. To truly grasp the concept of God's Word is to do things the way that God would. We need to manage the things in our lives in a Christian like way that would appease to God himself.
ReplyDeleteMatt Lindelien
This is Barbara Day and I think that maybe we all need to manage everything in our lives the way that God would. As far as managing large numbers of files, we can use a computer to do this. If we use a computer, we'll know that everything is orderly. God obviously wants everything to be in order. If we put data into a computer properly, then everything that comes out of it will also be orderly. That's the same way with people. If we feed ourselves with appropriate information (the Word of God), then everything coming from us (our output) will be appropriate, as well. If we're filling ourselves with God's Word, then our light will surely shine!
ReplyDeleteThe world is full of gray-scale answers, I believe the Bible is very clear and precise on how we should live and therefore organize our lives (and files). Just as the Lord gave Moses black and white instructions for the preparation of the Israelites, we too can spare ourselves chaos by planning and following the rules of proper file planning.
ReplyDeletePam Simons
I can relate God's Word, the Bible, to managing large files. We can store files anywhere , a large number of them, but if we really think about it all of the scriptures in the Holy Bible are like large files, we manage these files and store them in are hearts. We live by these scriptures. Each file or scripture has a different meaning for each of us and we need to take what we learn and share it with others but we also need to manage these everyday.
ReplyDeleteCarrie Porter
God's words relate to managing large files in this passage because just as we store all our files in folders on our computer, we store all the memories and experiences we have in our minds, hearts, and souls. Our body is our computer and gives us this "data" or experiences, good or bad, that we store to be able to go back to and learn from. We manage our lives according to what has happened in the past and what we want for the future and God wants us to live an organized life, so that we can be able to have a good grasp on things. Sometimes we struggle through and we just need to take time to organize our "data" or thoughts and get back on the right track. God gives us everything we need, but it is up to us to put all of it in some type of order, so we can utilize everything.
ReplyDeleteHow can we relate God's word to managing large files? Regardless to how large the task, God's word still offers ways for us to manage the situations. The word gives order to our lives. As followers of Christ we know where to go in the Bible to receive specific guidance. To the ungenerated person the Bible does look like a "hodge-podge" full of "thees" and "thous", but the believer has access to different folders which are relevant for others and themselves.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we need to keep order with our lives. We have to make sure that we know where we are headed and how we are going to get there. God has a plan for each of us and he has it filed away for when we choose to follow Him. God knows each of us better than we think. When we pray, He answers in the way that only He knows why. God helps us to deal with and then file away the thoughts and actions of ourselves. If we hold on to the things that are dragging us down, we will never be able to live as we deserve.
